Introduction to Modern Slavery with Sustainable Business Matters

Globally, there is an estimated 40.3 million people living in Modern Slavery. Two thirds of Modern Slavery victims are found in the Asia-Pacific region with strong links to Australian businesses and their supply chains. We understand that Modern Slavery can happen anytime and anywhere. We also understand that addressing Modern Slavery is not only important to our two businesses, but also to the design community, construction sector, our government and our clients.

With the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act (2018), entities with earnings over a $100 million AUD are required to report annually on what they are doing to assess and address risks of modern slavery in their business operations and supply chains. In partnership with Sustainable Business Matters, this presentation will explain what Modern Slavery is, where is it likely to occur, how is modern slavery relevant to the building industry and the process for businesses to tackle modern slavery.
