Head Up to City North for Saturday Indesign

Spread across the energetic and vibrant city of Melbourne, Saturday Indesign takes over four distinct areas – City North, City South, City Central and Richmond. A gentle reminder: you don’t want to miss what Saturday Indesign has to offer on Saturday 22 June.

Here’s a guide on what’s on the impressive roster at the City North showrooms and exhibitions at the event set to engage and reignite your creative spirit.

VOLA

The first showroom of the renowned Danish tapware brand, VOLA sets up in a factory building in the suburb of Collingwood. Honouring and preserving the original features of the structure, the Melbourne showroom elegantly reflects the VOLA brand philosophies. Opening just at the end of last year, the space is ready for its debut at this year’s Saturday Indesign for the visitors to explore its full range of tapware.

Established in 1968, VOLA has become an icon in timeless and function tapware design. At Saturday Indesign 2019, VOLA will present its latest collections, including the VOLA HV1 Basin Mixer, VOLA T39 Towel Rail and KV1 Single-Handle Mixer.

Head up to 94 Wellington St, Collingwood to be welcomed into a space that celebrates sophisticated elegance at its finest.

Ownworld / polytec / Dowel Jones

ownworld, Dowel Jones and polytec join forces for Saturday Indesign and with this powerhouse combination, visitors are bound for an electrifying show.

A must-see spectacle, Dowel Jones presents an expressive and playful installation with the theme titled, “Open For Business.” A thrilling display, this collection is a peek into the evolving workplace furniture as presented by all three brands. Open For Business – A collaboration between @doweljones, @ownworld.com.au and @polytec for @saturdayindesign ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Focusing on workplace, Dowel Jones has integrated Polytec’s contemporary materials with their own signature, playful language across 3 new collections and 1 new addition. Presented within a space that can only be described as nostalgic to those who worked in an office pre-Y2K. Think Ask Jeeves meets MSN Messenger. The design intent responds to Dowel Jones commonly used gestures, simplifying objects to their bare essentials without compromising aesthetic values. This hits the mark with Australian talent, humour and relevance.

Next Level Elevators

A new stellar addition to the list of exhibitors of this year’s Saturday Indesign is Melbourne’s specialist lift company, Next Level Elevators. Leaders in energy efficient, reliable and contemporary lifts, the brand’s collection can cater to any job, for any space. On the list of exhibited products at Saturday Indesign is The Eltec HLG Lift, The Ascent Home Lift and The Elegance Plus Home Lift.

The showroom at 456 Smith Street, Collingwood will host the talk: “The Retail Apocalypse Has Been Officially Cancelled,” exploring the revolution of retail design from brick and mortar aesthetics. Don’t miss this insightful talk with Indesignlive’s very own editor, Aleesha Callahan, Archier director, Chris Haddad and SIBLING Architecture’s Nicholas Braun.

Christopher Boots & BARBERA

Melbourne-based industrial designer, Christopher Boots makes a move into this year’s Saturday Indesign with his brand new product, CHRONOS: a material and conceptual exploration of time. The new collection showcases three new light fixtures and reimagined debut designs: Bucky, Meteor and Abacus. As a lover of nature and light, Christopher’s products are dedicated to excellence and elegance.

Alongside Christopher, BARBERA joins him in the hustle and bustle of Saturday Indesign 2019 – a duo of highly respected brands in the industry. Filled with talent and a drive for material exploration and refining techniques, BARBERA’s collection of furniture echoes the materiality of Christopher’s lighting. Working together, they will create a holistic design narrative between lighting and furniture through the rich tones and textures of opulent materials.

Make sure the Christopher Boots showroom at 369 Gore Street, Fitzroy is on your list for the day at Saturday Indesign.
