Freya Robinson

Freya Robinson

-

Freya is an interior designer whose expertise enables her to bring to life existing buildings and position spaces as people-centric, connected environments. As part of the Fender Katsalidis team, she looks to take an active and collaborative role in building meaning, connection and belonging for people who experience our spaces.

With a breadth of experience crossing all phases of project development, Freya is comfortable working end-to-end. Her understanding of how structure impacts the workplace and the programmatic function within a building stack has informed her design for clients’ specific commercial needs.

Prior to joining FK, Freya led a sizable team across a series of interior fit-outs for the insurance sector, guiding the refurbishment of three separate buildings, each of varying scales, timeframes and budgets. She has also led numerous other fit out projects for largely legal-based and financial services clients.

Freya’s interest in the story and the experience behind design stems from her early background in set design, as well as a Bachelor of Design Interiors at RMIT. Today, her training intersects with her commercial work as she remains closely tied to the university, lecturing and doing sessional teaching at RMIT. Part of this ongoing involvement includes leading a series of workshops for the ‘I Belong’ programme, which provides opportunities for disadvantaged or remote students applying to post-secondary education.

For Freya, interior design is more than just materiality; it is a connection to community and seeing the bigger picture through wellbeing and systems of sustainability and humanity. Ultimately, she aims to make places that people want to be in and is motivated by her belief that design can change the world.
